On this day (#OTD) October 26, 1993, NASA announced the continuation of the Dante volcanic exploration mission with Carnegie Mellon University. This was the second expedition conducted with Dante, an eight-legged robot. The first Dante had explored a volcano in Antarctica; this time, Dante II's mission was to crawl inside Mount Spurr, an active volcano in Alaska.
