Ohio State RB James Peoples has known he always could create the hurdle he had vs UCLA, with the track and field ability running in his genes.

Peoples was a hurdler in high school, as was his father, James Peoples II. But the true talent belonged to his mother, Nakisha, who was inducted into the Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017 after a decorated career as a hurdler — winning multiple Presidents’ Athletic Conference titles. “I kind of have that in my genes,” Peoples said.

Ohio State, while its 2026 class hasn’t even signed yet -- it’s set to do so on Dec. 3 -- is now building out its 2027 and 2028 classes. And the Buckeyes are off to a solid start.
