The race for California governor features former presidential wannabes, a county sheriff, two women who could become the first female to hold the office, current and former House members and at least one billionaire.
Ballots cast to approve Prop. 50 outnumbered "no" votes in Fresno, Imperial, Lake, Merced, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Joaquin counties, each of which were carried by Mr. Trump in the last presidential election.
Proposition 50, a measure to temporarily change California's congressional districts, is being voted on by California voters on November 4th, and if passed, it would add five more Democratic seats to the House of Representatives.
Proposition 50, the California measure that would redraw the state's congressional map, jumped to an initial lead Tuesday night. Returns showed 55.5% of early ballots were in favor of it, according to results reported at 8:05 p.m. by the California Secretary of State's Office.
The court ruling came after California voters formally approved a ballot measure that was introduced to counteract Texas' redistricting.
