Gov. Mills announces 2026 run for US Senate
M aine Gov. Janet Mills is now running for a seat in the U.S. Senate, according to an announcement on X, formerly Twitter, Tuesday morning.

Senate passes national defense bill
The Senate version of the National Defense Authorization Act provides a 3.8% pay raise for military members. It also provides funding to keep the Sentinel program and upgrades to the B-52s on track. The bill also mentions provisions to improve UAS and space force operations.
The Senate has voted to repeal the resolution that authorized the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, following a House vote last month that would return the basic war power to Congress more than two decades later.
