It was 21 years years ago, back in aught-3, on a day that should go down in brand marketing history, when Starbucks introduced the Pumpkin Spice Latte. The move set off a fall beverage revolution. Now, virtually every shop that sells coffee — from 7-Eleven to indie roasters — offers some version of the PSL or other fall-flavored drinks.

The PSL, which Starbucks says is its most popular seasonal beverage – available hot, iced or blended – is made with real pumpkin flavor; pumpkin-related spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg and clove; Starbucks Signature Espresso and steamed milk. The drink is topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices.

Break out the comfy sweaters and light your favorite autumn candle because fall is coming early. Starbucks has announced the return of its iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte on August 26. The coffee giant noted that the beloved PSL is made with real pumpkin.
