South Korea returned six North Koreans home via eastern waters, a South Korean government official said on Wednesday. Authorities in the South had found the six North Koreans earlier this year after their vessels had drifted south after they became stranded.

The country’s new president, in office for a little over a month, had just dispatched his senior deputies to Washington to try to work out a trade deal.

The dollar rose sharply against other major currencies on Monday, after U.S. President Donald Trump announced new tariffs set to go into effect August 1 for a spate of countries including Japan and South Korea.
