In a shocking move, the Red Sox sent Devers to the San Francisco Giants after he had refused to take over first base for the team and publicly criticized the front office for asking him to do so.

The San Francisco Giants have been able to stay competitive in the NL West division after trading for Rafael Devers on June 15.

The Red Sox front office and ownership have proven that they're willing to spend money, but not having to pay Devers the remaining $250 million of his contract certainly plays a factor here.
