The Mets drafted Nimmo in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft and after a slow start to his big league career, he has quickly become one of the franchise's most prolific players. The 32-year-old made his major league debut during the 2016 season and launched his first career home run against the Chicago Cubs on July 1.

After a slow start, Nimmo, who in recent years has shifted to a power approach, is seeing his swing pay dividends. In the last 37 games, he’s slashing .313/.365/.569 with 10 homers, seven doubles, 25 RBIs and 22 runs. He has 18 homers this year, behind only Juan Soto (21) and Pete Alonso (20) on the Mets.

During the Mets’ tough stretch, they had a hard time coming up with the big knock when they needed it -- but of late Brandon Nimmo has stepped up and delivered.
